Should chicken be weighed raw or cooked?
Hi ,just wanted to know if chicken is to be weighed when raw or when cooked? I didn't really think it would make much of a difference but when i weighed it after it was cooked it had lost 45g. I suppose the question also stands for all meat really. Thanks

Hi , If you can it should be weighed before cooking, but If I am having a bought cooked chicken I just weight it the same, But most of the time I weigh my meat raw

I understood from my consultant that the weight recommended on your plan was uncooked and if you have cooked you take a percentage off. So in my case I am allowed 150g raw, 120 cooked.

Rule of thumb is that meat loses 25% weight in cooking. So.... 120g raw weight = 90g cooked weight. Useful with working with a roast chicken or a can of fish etc. Otherwise, the weight in the programme is a raw meat weight. Elle
