Yoghurt,,, Packaged Chicken??? Hi guys
2 questions
1) I'm living in NZ at the moment and want to know what your opinion on good natural yoghurts are here..
In Australia I used Vaalia which is beautiful,, it is still low fat but creamy and not too bitter
I've tried cyclops low fat natural here,, i dont mind it on top of savoury things but with fruit (even with some sweetner) it is not that nice
What level of fat is suitable ??? because i noticed that the cyclops low fat one only had 0.9 g of fat per serve,, whereas the one i've just bought which is also natural and non sweetened had 3.2,, only 2.2 saturated.. I'm guessing this will taste better as it will be thicker and creamier...
2) I'm allowed chicken and turkey etc and those convenient packaged ones you can get (not honey or anything just plain) would be easy for me on work mornings to prepare for lunch. ALTHOUGH i did notice when looking at the ingredients they arent of course just chicken but salt and starch and other chemicals etc,, the carb amount was minimal on the nutritional guidelines though
So i guess i just want your opinion on whether deli or packaged ham/chcken is acceptable AND what yoghurt you use in NZ or if you're overseas how many fat g per serve does the yoghurt you use have
Thanks;)

There was a thread somewhere here (kitchen) on this subject, or it could have been in the kiwi thread. I use the Yoplait diet lite vanilla cream in the green tub (less than 1% sat.) It seems a lot sweeter than others I've tried and is great with berries for breakfast or in smoothies. (Some clinics have given this the green light others haven't) There is also an Easi-yo low fat one. (With the green light) I don't have the stats but that isn't too bad for taste. There are some more but hopefully the others will have some answers for you.
Re the packaged deli stuff, SS would probably say no, as it has those chemical preservatives, but my personal opinion (don't shoot me anyone!) is that if you need to tweak the programme slightly to suit you and if prepacked slices work for you, (as long as there is no added sugar, honey etc etc lurking) go for it.
Hope that helps.

Can't comment on the chicken question but I think this is the thread that jb is talking about.

There is also this thread.

And that last thread, I never answered Holly. I managed to lose a lot of weight eating Greek yoghurt the last time.

Hi CrispyGirl
When I did ss the first time, I used to make my own yogurt using EasyYo.....I found it to be allot tastier than the bought ones. I sometimes used the low fat packet (unsweeted natural) but mostly I'd use the Greek style, although there was more fat, it was thick and creamy and it didn't affect my loss when I used it.
I've noticed the same about deli chicken, it's best to buy fresh, portion it and freeze it.

Ok thats it....... you've all inspired me to go out and buy and easyo maker:)

I used to make my own yoghurt with the easyyo until Tilly (remember her?) compared yoghurt unfavourably with snot!! After that everytime I had breakfast I thought of snotty nosed little boys in the winter time, so I went to Bio Farms yoghurt or Cyclops - to hell with the calorie count :D

yoghurt Hi all,
My consultant recommended the Yoplait Yoplus original unsweetened -- and that's what I've been using. It is pretty creamy.
best of luck
